DIY Condo Remodeling Ideas
You’d love to completely remodel your condominium but it’s not in the budget. You want to make some changes but aren’t sure what you can tackle on your own. Today’s blog has three easy do it yourself condo remodeling ideas that can make a big impact.
Replace Your Faucets
Many contractors hired to build condos used generic looking stainless faucets throughout the condo. If you want a relatively inexpensive change, consider replacing your faucets in your bathroom and kitchen.
Modern kitchen faucets come in everything from stainless to brushed nickel and coppers, browns, and black. Features in today’s faucets include no touch operation and built in sprayers. Most home improvement stores offer a wide variety but you can also look at different manufacturer’s websites for a specific product. If you purchase a faucet with an integrated spray feature but currently have a separate sprayer, be sure to ask about a cover for the opening that compliments your new faucet.
Don’t neglect your bathroom. Before you begin shopping for a new faucet, make sure you’ve taken the measurements between the existing holes in your sink. No matter what type of faucet was originally installed, you’ll find many options available. Also look at your towel bars, if they are the cheap square contractor ones, consider something that will compliment your new faucet. You can keep the same size or get a larger one. Keep in mind that changing the size will require patching the wall and painting.
Replace Your Cabinet Knobs
Cabinet knobs and drawer pulls are one of the easiest changes you can make in your home. New knobs and pulls come in more styles and colors than you can imagine. If you are replacing handles, be sure to measure the distance between the two existing holes. You don’t want to choose a new pull that differs in dimension. Once you’ve chosen your new knobs you’ll just need a screwdriver to remove and replace them.
Replace Lighting
Sometimes changing out a fixture in a room can make a big difference. Other times, installing a dimmer on that light can enhance how you use it. When considering a new fixture, make sure that it accepts the new energy efficient bulbs. Ceiling fans with light kits are an excellent addition to almost any room. Some ceiling fans come with remotes but if the one you like doesn’t, there are secondary market ones that work with most fans – some can even be controlled by your smart phone or tablet!
